Good to hear from you again, Harley!
You will need to place your 2019 GMC Acadia into neutral when towing, but according to page 361 of your owner's manual it looks like you'll need to lift up the boot around the shifter and press the "manual release button" to do this.
I highly recommend referring to the instructions in your copy of the owner's manual to make sure you get your vehicle set up correctly.
For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If you do not have all of these components just let me know and I can make some additional recommendations for you.
