Question:

2021 tacoma TRD 6ft bed Looking in to install in my top shell a Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Rooftop Cargo Basket for Thule Roof Racks - 60inch Long x 45inch Wide Part Number: SPS4560-T400 Questions: if this is good fit for my topper, answer the following questions. 1.Do you know if this is a good fit for my Top shell?see pictures attached 2. My cross bars are Thule, Oval shape and about 48inch long each. Bars are mounted in my Top shell or topper in rails about 39inch apart measured center to center of the side rails. 3. How much this Surco Basket weights? 4. The 2 mount square cross bars come with the Basket. 5. Do you send the clamps or my Thule bars have slots under the rubber for the slotted nuts to attach the basket? 6. How can I carry bags smaller than the bottom side square areas that looks larger than th bags, do you have a kit of cross flat bars? Please let med know, thanks

The Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Rooftop Cargo Basket for Thule Roof Racks # SPS4560-T400 comes with mounting hardware that fits Thule square crossbars. The Surco Safari roof baskets also don't have any extra slats so you'd have to come up with something to take up that space on your own. Because of all of this I recommend going with a different roof basket.

My favorite cargo basket we carry is the 55" x 55" Inno Roof Deck Platform Rack # INA520 which has smaller spacing between the slats and comes with mounting hardware that's really easy and simple to use. You will need to reduce the spacing between your Thule crossbars since this has a max crossbar spread of 36" and you'll need the Rail Kit # IN57FR if you want raised sides. This weighs in at 39.7 lbs.

For something that will fit your current spacing and already comes with raised sides you can use the Rhino-Rack Roof Mounted Steel Cargo Basket # RMCB02 instead. There isn't anything wrong with this cargo basket, it just isn't as smooth to operate as the Inno. This weighs in at 47.8 lbs.
