Is The Fogatti InstaShower Go Pro Portable Tankless Water Heater FG79FR Good For Overlanding?

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/12/2024

Question:

I am thinking about this Fogatti portable unit for my overlanding rig. Couple questions: How much does it weigh? What are the dimensions? Can it be mounted to the side of a ladder rack? And, does it have to be hooked up to a full size LP tank, or can it connect to disposable tanks as well?

Good questions. I will answer them in order below:

1st - This weighs 27.9 pounds
2nd - This measures 18” long x 6-1/4” wide x 13-1/8” tall
3rd - Unfortunately, there are currently no mounting options for a ladder rack. It is designed to just placed on a flat surface.
4th - You can indeed use 1 lb disposable tanks with this system. You will simply thread the tank directly into the regulator located at the rear of the unit and you are good to go. If you are using a full size tank, then you will need to use the included adapter hose.

I hope that helps and I will say, the Fogatti InstaShower Go Pro Portable Tankless Water Heater 22,000 Btu # FG79FR would make a pretty handy thing to have if your overlanding trips are on the lengthy side. A hot shower can do a lot to lift spirits.

Hey, how did the Fogatti portable water heater work out for your overlanding rig? Were you able to use it with the disposable tanks as planned? Your update could make it easier for others setting up a similar system.
