Question:

I need a bike rack for a 2014 Cadillac ATS. The bike weighs 54 lbs. Most of the ones that I looked at say 35 lbs per bike limit. What is the best option for a heavy bike ?

Hey Robert,

In order to haul a 54lb bike you'd have to use a hitch-mounted bike rack. If you don't have a trailer hitch on your ATS then you'll first need to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11311. From there you could use a bike rack like the Saris SuperClamp EX Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # SA4025F. This bike rack is compatible with a 1-1/4" trailer hitch receiver and has a 60lb per bike capacity. This rack can accommodate tires up to 4.5" wide and would clamp to the wheels so it might not be a fit if your bikes have fenders. If this is the case let me know what you have and I can look for a better alternative.
