Comparing Rota-Flex and Gen-Y 5th Wheel Pin Boxes
Question:
How does the GenY compare to the Roto Flex by trailair?

Great question, Jeff!
When the Rota-Flex first came out it renovated what a pin box could do and be, but at this point in time that technology is a little more dated and the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel Pin Box # 325-GH-8040 is the "new kid on the block" so it is definitely an upgrade to what you currently have, and you'll be happy with it for sure.
The part number mentioned above will fit in place of a Lippert 1621 or 1621HD pin box and is great for a calculated tongue weight in the 1,501-3,000 lbs range. To find your calculated tongue weight you need to take the GVWR of your trailer and multiply it by 0.22 - if it falls within the range mentioned above then this Gen-Y pin box is what you need.

Jon, I have a question on another subject. Currently I pull a fifth wheel having a GVWR of 17,000lbs with a Curt Q20 with an F350 6.7L turbo diesel single rear wheel 4x4. I'm purchasing a new fifth wheel which has a GVWR of 22,000lbs and hitch weight of 3,200lbs, so I need to go to a Curt Q25 hitch. Are there modifications to the 20 which will bring it up to a 25 or do I need to buy a new hitch? Thanks, JeffH

Hi Jon, My 376TH has a 20k GVWR, does GenY make a hitch in these parameters? Also, will a 20k Reese hitch be adequate to pull this camper? Thanks!
