can I use metal utensils for cooking on the griddle? if not can I buy the combo unit with a cast iron griddle?

Metal utensils can be used on the porcelain griddle top of the Greystone Outdoor RV Griddle and Grill # WAY34FR. you'll just want to be careful that you don't gouge into the enamel coating of the griddle with the metal utensils. Damage to the coating will allow food to stick and can lead to griddle top rusting. Personally, with this style top I'd only use plastic utensils and save the metal utensils for the grill grate to avoid any scratches or gouges to the cook plate.

If you want a cast iron griddle so that you can use metal without worry then you'll want part # WAY54FR. This would not come with the grate top like the # WAY34FR does but you could order it separately from the manufacturer. You could also go with the # WAY94FR which combines both the grate and griddle top and is made of cast iron.
