Question:
can I use a hitch extender attached to my dual hitch to tow camper weighing 3,000lbs, the top tube is for a bike rack on the dual hitch adapter? i need this 6 inch rise but the bike rack will not slide on with the ball in the way, this is why I wanted to extend the bottom towing ball out away from the hitch farther..

Anytime an extender is installed on a hitch receiver, it reduces the towing capacity and tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. If you have a dual hitch installed on your 2014 GMC Terrain, there should be a plate or sticker affixed to the hitch that shows the tongue weight capacity and towing capacity of the hitch.
If you have a hitch installed and are using a dual-hitch adapter, the adapter must be rated for towing. Many of the dual hitch adapters we carry are rated for tow bars only and not suitable for towing trailers.
I recommend part # D210. This multipurpose ball mount has a 7500 lb towing weight capacity and features a 6 inch rise on the upper receiver.
If you do have an adapter and it is rated for towing, we do offer an extended ball mount like the Draw-Tite Ball Mount, part # 4285. This ball mount features a 4 inch drop or a 3 inch rise and measures 12 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. This may give your the clearance you need for your bike carrier when installed on the top receiver of your hitch.
