When its connected my car tail lights dont work how do I get my tail lights to work when I dont need the connector?

Installing a T-Connector, like the Curt # C55486 should not effect the functionality of the vehicles lights whatsoever. The wiring harness will tee into the vehicles wiring harness, giving you separate wiring for a trailer plug, while leaving all of the connections for your vehicles lights in tact. Please go back and make sure all of the plugs on the T-connector are fully inserted with the locking tabs in place. There are a total of 4 plugs (1 male 1 female each side)on the T-connector end so you will need to check all 4 to make sure they are properly connected.
