2013 Lexus ES 300h Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation
Updated 10/16/2023 | Published 10/15/2023 >
Question:
Lexus ES300h Prior owner said he towed small utility trailer but there is no wiring to go to trailer. Behind taillight access door there are two small tens that look to have been added. One looks like a fuse and the other is a female plug, rectangular in shape with two rows of 4 rectangular ports each with the lower row having slightly smaller sockets. Could this be a trailer connector?

I have a wiring kit solution for your 2013 Lexus ES 300h but the 8 port plug you found doesn't sound like any kind of trailer wiring harness I've ever heard of. It's possible that they used a unique setup, but wiring harnesses are pretty standard so the only real way to know is to test each of those ports with a circuit tester to see if they carry any kind of lighting function on them.
For a standard wiring harness kit I recommend going with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C63FR which tees in behind your tail lights and then powers the trailer lights via the wire that runs from the module box up to your vehicle battery. This helps to protect your OEM wiring from overdraw when connected to your trailer.
