Question:

I have a 2012 Honda Accord Crosstour and am wanting to carry cargo on top. How do I know which specific products will work with my car? Can you recommend a roof rack, hard carrier combo and a soft waterproof carrier that would work for me, I have no rack or bars of any kind. Not sure if the soft bags are secure, I suppose straps could be cut by a thief? We travel 3 days at a time to a winter destination so would be in hotel parking lots. Thanks!

Since your plan is to keep the cargo loaded on your vehicle while at a hotel you'll want to stick with a cargo box. The roof bags are convenient but they offer zero amount of security and someone can easily clip off the straps and run away with the bag like you said. The only way I can recommend a cargo bag is if you're able to store it inside the vehicle during the night.

The roof rack and cargo box come with locks so the only way someone can get at your cargo is if they physically break something. I added the bag just in case you still would like that options, but again, it won't be nearly as secure as a locked box that's also locked to your roof rack.
