Question:

I am looking for a truck bed rack with an over the roof cantilever attachment the will work with a retractible bed cover. I havent bought either yet but am looking to maintain as much useable cargo space as possible. I have a 2005 Tacoma with a 5 foot bed. Any suggestions?

I can get you most of the way there, but the only ladder rack that fits with a tonneau cover and has a cantilever attachment is the Thule TracRac SR but that unfortunately doesn't come with a fitment for the 5' bed on your 2005 Toyota Tacoma.

For a ladder rack and retractable tonneau cover combination I recommend the following:

- RetraxONE XR Hard Tonneau Cover # RTT-60811
- Yakima OverHaul HD Adjustable Truck Bed Ladder Rack # Y01151-5855

The RetraxONE XR has slotted rails on the sides that allow you to install the OverHaul HD to the tonneau cover. It's a unique design but it all works together nicely and gives you the tonneau cover and a ladder rack you were looking for. Unfortunately the only part is there are no cantilever options for the OverHaul HD so you'll be limited to the standard rack system.

If you have the Deck Rail System in the bed of your Tacoma you may need to remove it to install the tonneau cover.
