Will Rear Sensors Still Work With Curt Hitch on Toyota Venza

Updated 03/31/2023 | Published 03/30/2023

Question:

I am ready to buy Part Number C89UR for my 2022 Venza to carry 2 bikes. But i am worried about rear sensors, as noted by this review: Dennis 07/05/2022 One Year Later Toyota Venza 1st after market hitch for a 2021 Toyota Venza Hybrid. Note that this model is not rated to tow, but I needed it for a bike hitch. Agreed that this model probably shouldnt tow anything significant the rear suspension is too soft, but the hitch itself installed and been working perfectly. Stiff and tight, no sway, no noise, no movement of any kind, just makes the rear end sag when loaded with 2 ebikes total weight about 350 lbs. NOTE THAT ANYTHING BACK THERE WILL ALSO INTERFERE WITH THE CARS REAR SENSORS WHICH WILL ACTUALLY STOP YOU FROM CONTINUING GOING BACKWARDS OR EVEN OPENING THE REAR HATCH. What do you think?

It is true that the rear hands-free liftgate may not function on your Toyota Venza when installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C89UR. The vast majority of the reviews do indicate it will work if you kick your foot to the side of the receiver, but it is possible it can be lost.

As for stopping going backwards, I am not sure to what this is referring and cannot find any other reference to it anywhere regarding the # C89UR. With the amount of these people have put on their Venza's and no other mentions of it, I do not have any concerns of this being an issue.
