Question:

Hi Not sure which product I need hoping you can help. I have a ram 1500 and will be towing a 9500lbs travel trailer. I have a levelling kit on my truck. Is a weight distribution kit necessary? Anything else?

A leveling kit won't address sway or help with the extra tongue weight pushing down on the rear end of your Ram truck so I would recommend using a weight distribution system. For a 9,500 lbs trailer you will want the Strait-Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control item # RP66130.

This system has a 1,000 lbs - 1,500 lbs tongue weight range so it will be perfect for your trailer. Tongue weight is typically 10% - 15% of your trailer's total weight. The Strait-Line hitch works great at preventing trailer sway before it can begin. It forces the trailer to stay in line behind the tow vehicle.

For a hitch ball you will want item # 63840. It has a 20,000 lbs capacity and is 2-5/16" in diameter.

This system does not include a shank. I have listed a couple options below depending on what size receiver your Ram 1500 has.
