I recommend using the Rhino-Rack Crossbar Pads # RRRWP03 on the factory crossbars for your 2009 BMW 328i. The Thule Pads # TH843000 are designed to fit the the smaller square bar cross bars that are approximately 7/8"x1-1/4". The Rhino-Rack are designed to fit larger crossbars up to 3-1/2" wide and 1-3/4" tall.
