Question:
Going to Seattle from South Carolina. Manual says no chains due to clearance...will cables be ok?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The way your manual on your 2018 Chevrolet Malibu is worded it sounds like there are no size safety chains or cables which Chevrolet will approve for use on your Malibu with the 245/45-18 tires. Instead they seem to pass any fitment issues onto the manufacturers who only test fit for a tire size and do not custom fit chains for a specific vehicle. We do have the ISSE Classic Snow Socks # TCH66 which do meet DOT guidelines for all states and will increase traction on snow and ice. These have a very low profile as they are constructed of a polyolefin fabric. It will also provide a smooth ride as they do not have large ridges like chains.
