How to Determine if Snow Socks Will Work on Car With 245/55-18 Tires

Question:

I have a 2015 Ford police interceptor sedan similar to a Ford Taurus. The owners manual says snow chains or cables cannot be used on the sedan model. Can the H70 ISSE Classic Textile Chains TCH70 be used? The cars tire size is 245/55/18, which is listed as a size that the socks will fit.

I'm virtually certain there won't be an issue, but you can take a quick measurement to determine if you have the needed clearance on your Ford with 245/55-18 tires to see if you can use the ISSE Classic Snow Socks # TCH70.

These only require you to have 1.46" (37 mm) of clearance from the top of the tire to the wheel well, and 0.59" (15 mm) from the inside of the tire to whatever the closest point is.

So long as you have those clearances, you can use the ISSE Classic Snow Socks # TCH70.
