Recommended Drop Coupler Replacement for UFP A-75 Surge Brake Actuator

Updated 08/09/2022 | Published 08/06/2022

Question:

Product DX33FR. I currently have a UFP A-75 surge brake actuator on an ez loader EZP 20-22 aluminum pontoon trailer. The surge brake actuator mounts to the top of the tongue on the trailer which makes the coupler very high probably around 24 to tow the boat level. My lifted truck has no problem towing level but i now want to tow with a grand cherokee and would need a very aggressive lift hitch. Is there a replacement actuator that would mount in the tongue so that i dont need such a high lift hitch? If not what is your best recommendation for a lift hitch? the boat and trailer is about 2700 pounds. Thank you

It sounds like you need a drop coupler on the trailer like the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator part # DM8669112. The built-in drop will help with coupling on smaller vehicles. It is designed for drum brakes, has a 2" coupler, and 8,000 lb weight capacity.
