The Thule Roof Mounted Cargo Carrier # TH859XT that you referenced would work great for your 2008 Honda Pilot, if the crossbars on your Pilot are situated so they are between 20 inches and 37 inches apart. If they are adjustable, it is recommended to use the widest spread your vehicle can support.

This Thule Roof Cargo Carrier has a maximum weight capacity of 150 pounds. The carrier itself weighs in at 29 pounds. Please check your owners manual and determine the roof cargo capacity of your 2008 Honda Pilot and make sure that you do not exceed the capacity of the lowest rated component in the system.

This cargo carrier is designed to fit a variety of cross bars including: round, square, elliptical, and most factory crossbars. If you do not already have a factory installed roof rack, then you will need to install one to in order to mount the cargo basket on your Honda Pilot.
