Can I Mount a Spare Tire on the Cantilever on the TracRac SR Ladder Rack?

Will the tracrac over the cab extension support the weight of a spare tire I have a 2004 f350 dually 8ft bed?

I went ahead and reached out to my tech at Thule, and he said that while there is technically enough weight capacity to mount a spare tire on the cantilever on the TracRac SR # TH43003XT-010EX, this is something they have not put through testing. They also said that any damage that occurs to the rack from this application could possibly void the warranty on the rack.

With that being said, the safest option is to use an alternative method like the front-mounted tire carrier # 6715. Since this carrier installs into a front-mounted hitch, you do not need to worry about damaging the ladder rack and voiding the warranty. The tire carrier itself fits universal bolt patterns for mounting a variety of tire sizes. If you need a front hitch on your 2004 F-350 Dually, I recommend using the # 65022. With this hitch, you won't have any front bumper clearance issues with the # 6715 installed.
