Question:
I have a 2005 Subaru Legacy Outback. It has the factory installed crossbars. And I want to transport a canoe that is 37.5 wide and 75 pounds. I dont think the factory crossbars are wide enough. What do you recommend for this setup?

For your 2005 Subaru Legacy Outback Wagon, I recommend using the:
-Inno Square Crossbars # INB117, with the feet # INTR, and the fit kit # INTR104.
This roof rack will easily and quickly attach your factory roof rails and provide an attachment point for a canoe carrier.
For a canoe carrier, the Malone BigFoot Pro Canoe Carrier with Tie-Downs # MPG112MD is an excellent choice that will work with the mentioned Inno crossbars # INB117, and has a weight capacity of 165lbs, so it will be more than capable of transporting your canoe.
