Minimum Clearance for Installation of ProPride 3P Weight Distribution Hitch
Updated 04/26/2022 | Published 04/25/2022 >
Question:
Well researching on this hitch and I would need the 1000lbs but my trailer hitch is kind of low, I have couple of questions: 1How much low goes the bottom pieces of the pro pride hitch when installed, measured from the tip of the hitch ball that includes to the lower part which not sure if is the distribution bars or the actual hitch head parts.. 2 How much clearance is the minimum recommended? I understand more clearance the better, but always there is a minimum possible... Thanks in advance!

I reached out to ProPride and found that the # PR97QR requires the tongue (top of coupler) to have a minimum height of 18” when the trailer is measured level front to rear. According to ProPride, the 3P sits approximately 11” from the bottom of the coupler once installed.
The # PR97QR has a tongue weight range of 850-1,400 lbs, so as long as your loaded tongue weight is somewhere in the middle of that range this will work well for you. If it is lower you may need the # PR57QR which works for 700-1,000 lb tongue weights.
I have attached an installation video for your reference.
