Question:
hi, my friend if planning to purchase this brake controller for his 2006 Chevrolet Equinox. we tried to look on your website but only found 2007-2013 Chevrolet Equinox. some model does not have a brake signal on/off switch and some does. do you have any instruction wiring for a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox wiring? the other wiring is easy enough 12V supply, wire going back to the connector, etc the most one we are worried is the brake sensor. if his vehicle does not use an on/off switch, hes thinking of just purchasing it locally and have it installed. Let us know. thanks in advance.

The first thing you will need to install a brake controller in your 2006 Chevy Equinox will be to install a 4-way trailer connector. This will carry the tail light circuits of your trailer. For this you would want a Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 118391. I attached installation instructions and an install video that shows how this installs, its a pretty simple install process.
Next you will need to convert this 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install and operate a brake controller. For that you will need a Universal Installation Kit for Brake Controller # ETBC7. The install process will be a little more involved for this portion of the install, but it would not be too difficult. Check out the installation instructions I attached for this product and install video as well.
With both of these products you would be able to install the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160, you will need to use the stoplight circuit fuse in your fuse box to get the brake signal, the fuse you will need is fuse 27. I also attached an FAQ article on installing a brake controller from scratch in a vehicle that you should find informative also.
