Can the Spring Bars on Reese Weight Distribution System 66021 be Upgraded to Higher Capacity
Published 08/14/2013 >
Question:
I have the reese 66021 and dual cam sway control. If I get a heavier travel trailer can I just buy heavier trunnion bars and use the head I have? If so what is the head rated for tongue weight and gross weight?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The same head is used on systems rated up to 1,200 pounds tongue weight and 12,000 pounds gross trailer weight. You can just get the higher capacity bars should you go to a heavier trailer in the future. You would use # RP66009 to go up to the max for this system. The bars are rated for tongue weights ranging from 600 to 1,200 pounds.
Compare that to your current bars which are rated for 400 to 800 pounds tongue weight.
