Converting a B&W Companion to Fit in a 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 Long Bed w/ OEM Prep Package

Published 02/02/2022

Question:

I had to get rid of my Ford truck I barely had it a few years and had nothing but issues with it. It was such a pain and didn't have enough power to pull my toy hauler. I got myself a brand new Chevy Silverado 3500 long bed with the nice factory puck system. What do I need to do to convert my B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch so I can use it in my new truck?

Congrats on the new truck. I drive a Chevy too so I totally get it. You're going to need the Replacement Base for B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC - 20,000 lbs item # BWRVB3710. This will allow you to remove the current base on your Companion and mount it in the puck system in your 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500. I have linked a picture and a review video.

The B&W Companion weighs over 150 lbs. If that's not something you're interested in moving by yourself and don't want to have to rely on someone to help you then I recommend purchasing the B&W 5th Wheel Lifting Device for Companion and Patriot Hitches item # BWRVXA3130. This heavy duty steel tool lets you lift your B&W 5th-wheel hitch from your truck bed with a hoist. The 5th-Wheel jaws clamp around the device for a secure grip. I have attached a picture of what the lifting device looks like in action.

Don't forget your lube plate. The Lube Plate for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 10" Diameter item # RP83002 will prevent scratches on your fifth-wheel's skid plate and ease trailer hookup.
