Should Red Light on the Voyager Brake Controller Come On with Brake Pedal with No Trailer Connected

Question:
Im just wondering if I should have a red light come on the Tekonsha Voyager controller when I step on the brake pedal without a trailer plugged into the 7 way. I have a 05 VW Touareg V8, got the wire and harness from the dealer, and installed the controller according to your TSB, but did not connect direct to the brake switch.

There should be no red light on the Voyager brake controller # 39510 when there is no trailer connected. I performed several tests personally and when the connection to the blue wire is not present the light goes out. Once the trailer is connected and the brake controller senses it then a green light will come on.
