Question:
Hello, I would like to order and install a hitch on my 2013 Dodge Avenger, however your instructions state the exhaust must be lowered, and your videos and instructions are not really clear on exactly how to lower the exhaust? Ive looked under my vehicle and notice the exhaust hangers are made of rubber, ive tugged on them but they are in there tight. Can you give specific instructions on how to remove the exhaust hangers? Also, to run the one bolt through the frame using the supplied wire, your video doesnt really show in detail how to attach the wire to the bolt and then remove the wire once the bolt is in the frame. Id appreciate if you could provide more clarification on the above as id really like to order and install the hitch myself. Thank you.

First, to lower the exhaust, the first thing that our installers do is hang a support strap from one side of the vehicle to the other side to support the exhaust once it is off the hangers. To get the exhaust off of the rubber hangers you will need to spray them down with some lubricant like WD40. Then you can use a small pry bar or other flat tool to push the exhaust off the rubber part and then let it rest on the strap.
To use the fish wire you will just thread the bolt onto the end, run it through, and then once in position you will unthread it from the bolt. I have included a video showing how to lower exhaust and an FAQ article link on various aspects of hitch installation including the fishwire technique.
The Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24871 does not come with the recommended ball mount, part # 3594. For a ball you can use # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch or # 19258 for a 2 inch. For trailer wiring use # C56211.
