Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform and Sunroof Fitment on 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD

Question:
I am considering the Pioneer platform 49x76 with backbone for a 2022 TRD Pro 4Runner. Do you know if this platform will allow use of the sunroof on the 4Runner? Will the rack cover it or impede its function?

In order to install the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack with Backbone Mounting System # RR79QX on your 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD you will need to remove the factory rails that are on your roof. The Rhino-Rack Pioneer and Backbone system is a great accessory so if you are okay with that modification then I totally recommend this product.
If you'd rather keep your OEM rails then you can use the Pioneer Platform Rack # RR77AB instead. This comes with clamping feet that allow you to mount the platform rack directly to the OEM rails you have on your roof.
The Backbone system will sit somewhere in the ballpark of 2-1/2" - 3-1/2" above your roof line which should be enough clearance for you to open up your sunroof, although Rhino-Rack does not recommend opening up a sunroof when you have a roof accessory installed. I do believe that the 76" long platform will cover some of the sunroof.
