Question:
My 2021 Toyota Highlander has a 20" spare wheel and tire. I see that a bunch of receivers will only fit 18" or smaller spares. Do you have one that will still allow me to keep my spare under the vehicle?

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT84MR will allow for your 20" spare on your 2021 Toyota Highlander. This receiver will have a concealed cross tube for a cleaner look on your Highlander. It is rated for a maximum tongue weight of 500lbs and trailer weight of 5,000lbs. The receiver is not rated for use with a weight distribution hitch. Be sure to not exceed any manufacturer weight ratings for your Highlander.
I do recommend installing the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # TK99FR for a 4-way flat trailer connector with your receiver. It will be easier to access the wiring connector and route the wiring before you install the receiver. You can use the Mounting Bracket # 18144 to attach to the tab that is included on either Draw-Tite receiver.
If you haul a larger trailer with electric trailer brakes or a charge line for an on board battery the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter # TK57VR will give you a 7-way connector. For this connector you will need the Mounting Bracket # PK12711U. I do recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 for a trailer that uses electric brakes.
