How far can I put the roof rack basket on the topper on my F150?

There isn't a specific formula for where to place your Thule Canyon XT # TH859XT cargo basket on your truck topper, but generally having your cargo centered on your roof provides you with the most stability so I would be inclined to move it as close to the middle of those tracks on your topper as you can.
It does look like you have quite a bit of room still so you may consider using the Extension Piece # TH8591XT which will add 20" of length to the Canyon XT so you can get as much cargo space real estate as possible.
