Why Would Trailer Lights Work after Unplugging and Replugging in a Trailer Connector

Question:
after installation of wiring harness in my 1999 Toyota Rav 4. I connected lights to my trailer, lights dont work so I unpugged connection from wiring harness to trailer for afew seconds reconnect and lights work. Could please help me. Thanks

It sounds like there might be a little corrosion in your trailer connector and when you unplugged and replugged in the connector you were able to make a good connection. You might inspect the connectors for any corrosion and clean as necessary. That should get rid of the problem.
Or the first time you plugged in the connector it was not all the way plugged in.
