Exhaust Muffler Makes Contact With Receiver On My Ford Fiesta Causing A Rattle
Updated 06/18/2021 | Published 06/17/2021 >
Question:
My exhaust is rattling up against the hitch framework... every bump and corner. I’ve replaced the exhaust hangers with silicone hangers stiffer than stock and I’m still getting rattling. I’ve thought about hard wiring the exhaust but I’m not happy about trying that solution. Any suggestions?

I have a couple ideas for your to try.
First the holes in the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11067 are oval and will allow for the receiver to be adjusted left to right a little to gain the clearance that is needed around the exhaust. Check to see where the exhaust is contacting the receiver and see if there is room to adjust the receiver so that it will no longer make contact.
If there is there is no room left to adjust the receiver you can adjust the muffler slightly by loosening any exhaust clamps and couplers that tie the pipes together. You will be able to make small adjustments to the muffler so that it will fit correctly around the receiver.
If you do not find either of these methods to help please send me photos of where the receiver is contacting the muffler and I will give you another recommendation.
