How Much Room Should the Lid on the UWS UWS01020 Have to the Closest Contact Point?

Question:

we are thinking about mounting this on the front of a NuCamp Tab tear camper. i see that the struts have 3 holes. would this keep the lid from fully opening at 90 degrees if i mount them in a lower hole? how far away would it need to be mounted to allow the lid to open to around 75 degrees? How thick of aluminum do they use for this box? THANK YOU!!

I spoke with UWS, and they did confirm that using one of the lower holes for the gas strut will prevent the lid from opening 100% of the way. They also said the aluminum used on the # UWS01020 is .058 inches thick.

To get the lid to open properly, you will want to mount the box about 2 inches forward of the surface it would make contact with.
