I just bought a kwikee 28 series replacement for my old rusted one. Now when I open the door the steps close and when I close the door they come out. Will this fix the issue? I currently have magnetic round switches.

It sounds like what might have happened here has been caused by the switch as you've noticed, but if you've currently got the Replacement Magnetic Door Sensor for Kwikee Electric RV Steps - Round - White # LC378047 you'll want to switch to the Replacement Magnetic Door Sensor for Kwikee Electric RV Steps - Rectangle - White # LC374198. This will allow your stairs to work in the opposite manner than they're currently operating.
