The CTS3 Tuner # EP49YR will need to be connected to your 2019 Camaro SS the whole time. It'll hook into your wiring harness and tune the ECU. It's going to increase your HP but the performance will differ with the different tunes. It has preset tunes based on what you've done to your engine. As you bolt on upgrades like exhaust systems # MF19265 you can set a mild tune all the way up to high performance tunes. It all depends on what you're wanting.
It is more of a generic tune compared to taking it into the shop. The shop will take into account the exact upgrades you've done and adjust to mapping to customize it to your ride. That is the better option if your looking for a custom set up, but the CTS3 will allow you to change the maps on your own using the display screen that comes with it. If you wanted to set the tune back to stock, you don't have to bring it back into the shop.
You can expect 50-100HP increase depending on the tune you set. You can expect more when tuning in addition to added on accessories. This is a great way to get to know your car and fine out exactly what it likes and is better for tweaking your set up as you add upgrades. With a shop tune, as you continue to beef up your components after the tune, it would be best to get it retuned which in my experience ends up being just as much as the initial tune.
