Expert Reply:
In order to use your 100lb propane tank with refill valve to fuel your fireplace you will want to check if you need a horizontal or vertical regulator. Vertical regulators are mounted upright and have the vent on the bottom, while the horizontal regulators are mounted sideways with the vent on the side of the regulator facing down. For vertical, go with MB Sturgis Vertical 2-Stage Propane Regulator - 11" Water Column Outlet # 108220 with MB Sturgis Hose Assembly # 100202. For horizontal, go with Camco Horizontal 2-Stage Propane Regulator w/ P.O.L - 160,000 Btu/Hr # CAM59333. I have attached demonstration videos for these products.
