The simplest way to install a 5-way on your 2008 Toyota RAV4 would be with the Tekonsha kit part # 118412 first for a 4-way and then use the # 20036 to convert to a 5-way as there isn't a 5-way kit that fits directly to your vehicle.

The female 5-way would end up on the vehicle side which is the standard configuration.
