Air Pressure in Fireston Coil-Rite Air Springs when Vehicle is not Loaded

Question:

I have a 2015 Santa Fe Sport and want to know if you can keep these partially inflated at all times when not under a load to help ride quality?

Yes, The Firestone Coil-Rite Air Springs, part # F4170, can have air pressure in them even when not under a load.

In fact, the lowest air pressure they will have is 5 psi (with the capability of handling all the way up to 35 psi), so there will always be at least 5 psi in them.

With that in mind, I recommend keeping them at 5 when unloaded. It may seem that more pressure would improve your ride quality, but that's not the case. These improve ride quality under loads by keeping everything steady under the added weight. When there isn't the added weight, the higher pressure makes your ride more rigid. This will make you feel every slight bump in the road if the pressure is too high.

Keep them at 5 when unloaded to maintain a smooth ride, and only put more pressure in them when you are loading more weight.
