Question:

I have a 2018 Audi Q5 Quattro. Tire size 255/45/R20. Tires are all-season M+S. From what I understand I shouldn’t need chains but may be required to carry them in chain control areas crossing the Sierra Nevada toward Tahoe. Which chains are recommended, and for which wheels? Thanks!

For strictly emergency use and to get through checkpoints I'd recommend a lower priced cable like part # TC2029 as it will get your through the checkpoints and out of winter weather at least once.

But if you have plans to drive in deep snow and you know you'll use the chains you'd want something like the K-Summits # TH02230K66 which have the best clearances of any option out there since they do not drape over the inner side wall. On a vehicle like yours this type of clearance is needed and other options might cause interference.

To determine which tires should have chains on them check your owners manual.
