Can RV Tank Heating Pads Wire Directly to Trailer Battery
Updated 10/30/2020 | Published 10/29/2020 >
Question:
I just purchased three Facon tank heater pads and a three gang switch for the tanks on my rv. They are the 13.5 V DC at 65 Watts pads. Can I wire them directly to my camper battery and does that battery continuously take charge when my camper is plugged into the 30 amp power source at the sites? Or if I elect to run from the battery, will the battery discharge with time?

You can wire your heating pads to the battery directly like you mentioned. They will draw a charge on the battery as long as they are connected. You'd have to verify to be sure but if you have a 30 amp inlet on your RV you most likely have a battery charger that is designed for that panel as well which would keep the battery charged whenever plugged into shore power like you mentioned.
