Troubleshooting the Optronics Opti-Brite LED Interior Strip Light

Question:
Hi, Almost three years ago I bought the smaller Opti-Brite for my cargo trailer conversion...it has already quit working without much use. Is this common? I still need a light under the counter but am hesitant to re-order the same model. I purchased various supplies from etrailer.com, this is the only part that has failed

Expert Reply:
That is very uncommon for the Optronics Opti-Brite LED Interior Strip Light part # ILL70CB. LED's last so much longer than standard incandescent bulbs. I recommend checking the wiring leading to the light itself. It is possible one of the connections have come loose.
To proof this out remove the light and test it by connecting it directly to a 12 volt power source. This will confirm whether the light has actually failed or if the wiring is the issue.
If testing it this way results in the light being bad it would be to me a weird exception. These lights tend to work for years and years. I would have no problems re buying it.
