Question:
Hello, I have a 1966 Cree camper, and need to mount a hitch on it to carry an electric wheelchair platform. Since the Cree company has been out of business since 1992, there is no way to get information regarding the bumper weight capacity. I am planning on ordering the E-100 bumper mount hitch, which has the weight capacity for the chair and the platform, which is about 300 lbs. I know you cant tell me for certain what that bumper capacity is, but I would like your opinion if it can handle that load? Thanks

Expert Reply:
I would not be able to speculate on the rear bumper capacity for any one particular trailer especially one this old but if you feel you will be exceeding this with the Curt RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver part # E-100 you can add supports, the Mount-n-Lock SafetyStruts Universal RV Bumper Support Brackets part # MO34VR.
The other options would be a frame mount trailer hitch, the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13703.
