Availability of Cover for Ford Ranger 4-Way to Protect From Salty Winter Roads

Updated 06/11/2020 | Published 06/09/2020

Question:

My son has an older Ford Ranger with a 4 wire - plug that connects to a trailer. Every year we have to spend time checking the wiring because it gets messed up over the winter with salty roads, etc. Is their a cover or bonnet that we could purchase to cover the wiring plug to stop the corrosion from salty roads. Thanks,

There are covers for a 4-Way connector to help keep the pins in good shape!

I recommend using the Tow Ready # 20112 to help protect the pins on your 4-Way. If the pins are bad enough on the Ford Ranger then you can even cut it off and splice on a new connector like the Hopkins Endurance Easy-Pull Harness # HM48044 (which comes with a cover) with butt connectors # DW05744-5.

Adding some dielectric grease like part # 11755 to the connectors occasionally will also help to keep the pins in good shape as this grease helps to keep rust and corrosion off of it.
