Happy to help. For your 2019 Nissan Leaf I recommend using the the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56227 if you don't already have a 4-way trailer connection. Then to upgrade to the 7-way you can use the kit # ETBC7 which includes all the wiring, circuit breakers, and connectors.
This will allow you to add the brake controller of your choice. I personally really like the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR because of the installation options. It has a clean factory look with all the benefits of a great adjustable controller.
