Question:
I installed the Tekonsha 118920 kit in my Subaru. The kit does not work, save for the 12v feed that I ran to the battery. Looking at the OEM harness to the kits adapter, it looks like the wires are terminated in the wrong location of the plug. I need to verify the wiring

The Tekonsha # 118290 is a confirmed fit on the 2020 Subaru Ascent, and it sounds like maybe you're seeing different colors on the wires coming out of your factory harness compared to the one on the on the Tekonsha # 118290 harness. I'll start by saying that the colors aren't always a perfect indicator, so you can use a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 to test the wires going into the harness that you're plugging into to make sure that they're providing power with the appropriate functions engaged. You'll want to test the brake lights and turn signals to see if they're supplying power to the plug when you turn them on.
If you're getting power to that plug, I would then test the wires coming out of the converter box on the Tekonsha harness. If you're not seeing any power on the outward feed of the box into the 7 way plug, the box might have been damaged and it will need to be replaced.
If you can start testing there and let me know what you find, I can give you a few other things that we can potentially look for. I'd also check to make sure that you've found the correct plug, as it could be possible that there are two similar plugs in that location.
