Question:

I have been recommended by friends to purchase through etrailer. I have a 2016 Toyota Corolla with sunroof. I kayak often and have only been using foam blocks and ratchet straps but would like a more secure system. Also, would J hooks be a thought? Please advise something that is pretty easy to install and safe.

I'm glad we were recommended and we can absolutely set you up with an easy to install and use roof rack and kayak carrier for your 2016 Toyota Corolla sedan. It is also really smart to go with a roof rack because transporting a kayak on a sunroof with foam blocks is pretty risky.

The roof rack I recommend for your '16 Corolla consists of:

- Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711420 (Black) OR # TH711400 (Silver)
- Evo Clamp Feet for Thule Crossbars # TH710501
- Fit Kit for Thule Evo Clamp Roof Rack Feet # TH145148

This is the easiest to install roof rack because which consists of only a few parts that are easy to put together. You will just attach the fit kit and the crossbars to the feet, make sure the bars are even, and tighten it with a small torque tool (like a screwdriver) which comes with the kit. This will give you a very high-quality, very quiet rack for your Corolla.

Since you have a sunroof I recommend using a J-style carrier that fits directly in the T-slots (channels) of the roof rack, the Thule Hull-A-Port Aero Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs - J-Style # TH849000.
