Are Relays Required When Installing T-One Wiring Harness on 2019 Nissan Pathfinder

Question:
Why do I need to take my whole backside trunk out and install the relays? Are not the 4 way harness plug ins under my carriage already? Is it only to make it Factory Compliant and add the use of brake capabilities on a trailer? Thanks

I know it seems like there are extra steps to take for installing the T-One # 118273 on your 2019 Nissan Pathfinder but it all just boils down to this; without those relays installed the T-One won't receive any power. Basically these act as fuses so without a fuse the circuit is dead. I'm not sure why Nissan decided to locate the plug in the rear hatch area but that's where it sits on your Pathfinder. If you had the factory tow package you'd be able to go to that same location and see a similar wiring plug-in that they would have installed.
If you don't already have a trailer hitch then I recommend using the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98908 because it has a hidden crosstube and a matte black finish. The hidden crosstube gives the hitch a sleek OEM look and the matte black finish does a better job at holding up to road debris damage (nicks and dings) than the classic glossy black finish does on other hitches. To hold the T-One socket next to the hitch you can use the Curt Easy Mount Bracket # C58003. I also recommend getting the hitch cover # 22282 to help keep road debris out of the hitch receiver when you aren't using it.
To complete your towing setup you also need a ball mount kit. I recommend looking at the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989891 which includes a 1-7/8" hitch ball, 2" hitch ball, a ball mount with a 3/4" rise/2" drop, a pin and clip, as well as a storage bag. You will want to check out the attached ball mount article to ensure that this ball mount has the correct rise/drop for your towing application.
