How To Install Pulse Preventer On Vehicle with Factory Brake Controller Port
Published 03/26/2020 >
Question:
Is this basically the same as any other truck since it is installed after the brake pedal switch? Never had a problem before and then one day I put my 4 ways on to back in to a spot and the brakes keep locking up. Nothing had changed at all at that time just happened out of the blue.

The process to install the Pulse Preventer for Electric Brake Controllers part # 5501 on a vehicle with factory brake controller port entails locating the stop light switch wire in that harness (usually red) and splicing into this between the brake controller side and vehicle side. The other wire then get tied into the brake light circuit on the vehicle. I have attached a wiring diagram for you below.
Please note, the pulse preventer is designed to allow you to tow a trailer with electric brakes while the hazard circuit is active on a vehicle with combined tail lights (stop/turn on same circuit). This is usually needed for emergency vehicles or highway workers.
