Troubleshooting 5th Wheel Clearance with Bed Side Rails of 2019 Ford F-450 Super Duty
Updated 02/10/2020 | Published 02/09/2020 >
Question:
I have a 2019 F-450 and I have the BW puck as high as it will go. When I turn say more than 45 degrees the king pin is sittin so low in the truck it is ripping the top of my bed up. Yes I believe it's as high as it goes. I don't recommend this hitch if it's going to sit so low. A new king pin is $1300. Pics available if requested.

I'm sorry to hear about the clearance you are experiencing while towing with your 2019 Ford F-450. While I can see where you would think that the B&W Companion # BWRVK3300 could be the problem, there some other things that you can do to help make sure that you get the proper clearance of your 5th wheel over your bed rails.
In addition to the various height settings of the Companion you can also adjust the height of your pin box on your trailer with the different adjustment holes. If your trailer isn't able to sit level and/or get enough clearance over your bed rails then the next is typically to increase the height of your trailer by adding a lift kit or an over-under conversion kit (see attached selection).
A lot of the newer pickups are sitting higher and have higher bed sides so getting the proper clearance for your 5th wheel trailer is extremely important. I am attaching a few pictures and some helpful articles that you can check out so that we can get you to your campsite without a damaged truck/trailer.
