Can the Fulton F2 Swing-Up Trailer Jack Be Mounted to an I-Beam Aluminum Boat Trailer
Updated 05/25/2012 | Published 05/24/2012 >
Question:
Instead of mounting this to the 3x4inch tongue of my boat trailer which folds, Id like to mount it further back on the aluminum I-beam. Is there a strengthener piece to fill the void between the top and bottom plates of the I-beam?

First, the closer you get to the axle on the trailer, the heavier that part of the trailer is going to be. That is important because where you mount the jack could determine if it is over or under capacity.
You would need to box out the frame so that it is square or rectangle and not an I so the jack can be safely attached. Usually to do this, you would weld on a couple of steel plates. However, welding to aluminum is tricky and requires a very skilled welder with experience. This is probably the best option for your application.
