Question:

Will this fit on a 2016 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel? Also, will this work if I have a bypass oil filter system already installed or will I have to remove the bypass filter? Thanks

I reached out to my contact at Derale just to get his thoughts on adding the Derale Econo-Cool Combo Engine and Trans Cooler # D15230 to your particular setup. He said that technically the cooler would fit and work fine on your 2016 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, either with or without the bypass filter you mentioned.

He also added though that he honestly doesn't think an engine oil cooler is necessary. For your 1500 you will get much better results with adding a larger, transmission only cooler that will be much more efficient in cooling down the transmission than the combo system you were looking at.

He specifically recommended looking at the Derale 16-Pass Remote Cooler Assembly # D15800 that's just slightly higher in price but will give you much better results overall. It measures 15-3/4" wide, 11-1/2" tall, 5" deep and still features a reversible tornado fan for excellent cooling.
